A Little Bit About Us!
Our adventure began in 2010 with the birth of our baby boy, Elliott. As new parents, we (Jeff and Kylie) were suddenly awakened (literally and figuratively!) to a world of synthetic plastic toys, bright lights and loud sounds. When it came time to buy fun and developmental toys for our little one, we soon came to the reality that wooden toys and teethers weren’t readily available. After a few toy recalls in the news, our conscience was telling us there must be some way to let him play safely while still being a boy; even building blocks were made out of plastic!
While walking in the family sugar bush on St. Joseph Island, ON, surrounded by fresh air and maple trees we thought, why not make our own?! Playing with Elliott’s toys gave Jeff a fun way to inspect and dream up simple yet fun designs. We use everyday shapes, Papa’s farm and sugar bush as creative inspiration to help bring the animals and nature to life. Constant doodling, some input from Kylie and many scraps of wood later - Elli the Elephant came to life. Little did we know this would start a little shop at our home, inspired by our curious little boy.
We wanted to have a little fun with our toys so many are named after our nieces and nephews. Since the family is growing each year, we'll have to be creative!
In keeping with our green design, we constantly strive to reduce our environmental footprint. We source our wood from the family sugar bush and locally harvested maple trees. Our product cards are printed on 100% recycled Canadian paper and organic hemp string. We do not include any packaging with our products however we do carefully pack them in 100% recycled paper and mail them in 100% recycled padded envelopes.
